Mission Statement

Despite the influx of bloggers trying to carve out a piece of the Web for themselves, Seattle's Coffee Zombie (SCZ) is joining the ranks of newsy bloggers.

The first goal of is SCZ to gain and retain at least 50 returning readers daily (in English, this means we want you to come back to check the blog out regularly), and at least 100 new hits a day. SCZ will post three to five unique articles a week; these articles will primarily feature aspects of Seattle, such as coffee cafes that is not Starbucks to try, microbrews to try, opinions about Seattle's news and politics, etc. This will, however, not be limited to Seattle news; hot watercooler topics might cross this editor's desk from time to time.

This will be reevaluated once we achieve these goals.

How's that for business speak? This was written by someone who graduated with a business degree and hasn't used it in an official capacity since.

About me: I kept a personal blog for about two years, and averaged about 25 daily returning readers. But my old blog, which has since been retired, was primarily personal, and as time went on, I became more and more reticent to share personal details with internet strangers. And while I could've revamped that blog to touch on a different scope in the media, I decided to start with a clean slate. It was a good time to do so - I recently moved to Seattle, and while I haven't decided if I'll be staying here long term (I like moving), for the time being, I'm going to treat Seattle as if it is indeed my permanent home and make a better effort to do so.

Was that a run-on sentence?

I went to RIT in Rochester, NY, and graduated with a business degree. I know a lot of people from RIT who went on to work at the Microsoft campus. Nowadays, my interests and career choice lie more in freelance writing/editing and photography.

Here's my personal ad: Former Diet-Coke addict. Love coffee, very picky about it. Serve me burnt, overbrewed coffee at your own peril. Bit of a tech head, but can't afford it (hire me to do your editing and/or photography projects!). I rock climbed for four years, looking to get back into that. Love microbrews and local wineries. Have a supersized, yet not fat, golden retriever, although he could stand to lose 5 more lbs.

If you see someone carrying a ginormous camera while walking a large golden retriever on the streets that you think may be SCZ's author, feel free to freak that person out. And then contact me sharing your experience.
